Hi,
I too would be running around for my daughters admission soon. When my daughter was born in Feb 2006, I began asking people about admission and application information. Each one (ofcourse single people who never knew the ground realities then)laughed at my over enthusiasm.
Put off by their attitude and actually thinking I am over stressing myself over a trivial matter, I put things to rest. I got my kid admitted to a local Montessory type playschool when my child was 20 months old.
Now I have enrolled my kid to another pre-school at Ashok Nagar. Suddenly yesterday I thought of exploring the schools in my locality (West Mambalam) where I can admit my kid for her LKG. All along I wanted to put her up at Kendriya Vidyala in KK Nagar. Second option was Padma Seshadri in KK Nagar / T. Nagar.
Only then did I realize that to get her admitted to Kendriya Vidyala, my kid should have completed 5 years!!!! Dejected that I can't get her into KV, I looked up for information on Padma Seshadri and was frustrated even more when I found that to get into that school she should've completed 3years and 6 months by June 2009. She would fall short by a month to get into that school.
Now, I'd have to figure out how on earth I can get he into LKG and in which school!
If someone has encountered a similar problem, I'd appreciate your help in this regard.
PS - Just in case I fail to check for updates in this blog, I would appreciate if you can mail through your suggestions to sathishkumar.blaze@gmail.com .
Peace and Regards!

Hi,
I have a daughter who just turned 2 this month...i am living in kodambakkam but will be moving to mogappair next year...i am trying to gather information about the schools near mogappair...i was told Chinmaya & DAV are the best...but also heard that it is almost impossible to get admission...as the process involved is confusing for both parents and the kid...
Hi, Me too running around for my daughter's admission for LKG in the same area - Kodambakam / Ashok Nagar / West Mambalam / T.Nagar.
You could try this Jawahar Vidyalaya which is a CBSE school located in Ashok Nagar. Guess they give themselves airs during admission - but hey, which school doesnt?!
Vidyodaya and Holy Angels from T.Nagar are cool schools which dont put much pressure on the kids. But T.NAGAR - you never know - one sale in Pothy's and the entire area could get clogged.
I am liking to place my son one into LKG AND other one to 1st std.
I would like any one to say how to get admission to chinmaya and DAV here. Please help
Satish,
KV has admissions only from 1st standard. You can check out the google search "admissions chennai"-you get lots of info. indusladies give a lot of info school wise.
A google search of " Top Schools chennai" may be of some help.
I just put my kids in chinmaya chetpet and i feel as if i have done their wedding. It is very tiring mainly because you have no idea about the schools.
Iam so surprised that as residents of chennai we hardly know any info about the schools and their admission procedures. Or we are kept inthe dark. Unless you go searching you dont know a thing... and sometimes it is too late....
I have been having fun atleast.
Try exhausting the internet and put all the bits and pieces of info together. That is how i got info about all schools. But i concentrated in and around kilpauk.
And one thing is that have many options open or it gets very difficult. Many admissions open in Jan and Feb and it is not yet too late.
All the best! Dont worry. You will get a school that you are meant to. Just do not give up hope.
sudha_vinod@hotmail is my mail id. If i can help i definitely will.
Regards
Krishna
