We would like to share the problems and hurdles we faced when we applied for LKG admission for our daughter for the academic year 2008-2009 in and around Anna Nagar and Mogappair area in Chennai. We applied in 8 schools totally, 7 in Anna Nagar/Mogappair area and one in Nungambakkam.
Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar
DAV Senior Secondary School Mogappair (CBSE)
DAV Matriculation School
Velammal Matriculation School
Velammal Vidyalaya
SBOA School and Junior College
Schram Academy
Asan Memorial
I am liking to place my son one into LKG AND other one to 1st std.
I would like any one to say how to get admission to chinmaya and DAV here. Please help
Satish,
KV has admissions only from 1st standard. You can check out the google search “admissions chennai”-you get lots of info. http://www.indusladies.com give a lot of info school wise.
A google search of ” Top Schools chennai” may be of some help.
I just put my kids in chinmaya chetpet and i feel as if i have done their wedding. It is very tiring mainly because you have no idea about the schools.
Iam so surprised that as residents of chennai we hardly know any info about the schools and their admission procedures. Or we are kept inthe dark. Unless you go searching you dont know a thing… and sometimes it is too late….
I have been having fun atleast.
Try exhausting the internet and put all the bits and pieces of info together. That is how i got info about all schools. But i concentrated in and around kilpauk.
And one thing is that have many options open or it gets very difficult. Many admissions open in Jan and Feb and it is not yet too late.
All the best! Dont worry. You will get a school that you are meant to. Just do not give up hope.
sudha_vinod@hotmail is my mail id. If i can help i definitely will.
Regards
Krishna

hi all
Admissions wouldnt be too difficult if parents were not too keen about “THE TOP SCHOOLS OF CHENNAI”.ANY good school closest to ur residence should be fair
enough. Its good for the child and i can assure u that admission is definitly given to a child who is within closse proxmity to school.
i had changed two schools in chennai due to shifting of residence and it was cake walk for me. The schools were st johns besant nagar and chettinad vidyashram, r a puram.
my daughter is now in the nineth std.
my experience tells, how good the school is totally depends on how smart ur child is.
cause finally if ur child isnot upto the mark, she will be removed from the school at some point of time before 10th.
SO PLEASE CHOOSE a school that is stress free and gives importance to all round improvement of the child.
A CHILD THAT GROWS WITH LOT OF LOVE AND STRESS FREE ATMOSPHERE
GROWSINTO A BETTER HUMAN BEING WITH
BETTER VALUES.
Please tell me whether we can get admission for II std in DAV Girls schools (CBSE) for my daughter. I want to know what is there admission procedures. If anybody knows the details please email me in karayilajith@rediffmail.com
I am really disgusted at the attititude of most parents here in chennai to put their kids in a school that puts the maximum pressure and stress on their kids. the parents seems to actually enjoy it. Its time this sickening attitude changed. I see loads of small kids with huge loads on their backs on their way to school..are the parents blind or something?
Please never admit your child in GRT school in Ashok Nagar. My wife always shops in GRT Thangamaaligai,so she thought it will be a good school.
I had admitted my son there last year and hated it. The teachers are very inconsiderate. It appears they were recruited out of favoritism than merit. They lack proper qualifications. Later, I moved my son to Jawahar Vidyala nearby and he is doing great.
Dear Unni ,
I am too in your position right now , that too in a non metro place like Cochin.
Here more than Money its based only on recommendation, To my knowledge almost many seats are already filled & managements is keeping on selling forms.
I had collected application forms in 1st day itself with registration nos around 18 , 21 ,…. still i can find that numbers with 200 , 1200++ are getting addition.
When I asked the school , what is that you are looking for while admission , they said " its only the parents that we are looking " .
I still cant understand what is their criteria, because I & my wife are employed & earning handsome amount , but still not getting admission.

Hello Friends,
**** LKG Admission Query, ****
We are recently relocated to Chennai. My son is 3.5 now: DOB: 04th May 2006, currently attending nursery at Euro Kids.
We are put up near Ambika Empire, 100 Ft road, Vadapalani.
I’m really confused about school admission in Chennai, when few schools issue application other schools completes admission, real dilemma to choose school. My job is transferable and I will be in Chennai for max 2 years.
Please provide rating some of the schools mentioned below, good infrastructure in school is important to me.
1. Scharam Academy, Anna Nagar (They will provide notification in first week of DEC )
2. PSBB Millenium, GST Road (they told they have transportation facility to our locality, I need to make complete payment for admission by 23rd Dec, 2009. Really confused to accept admission offer or reject it considering distance, since other schools just start admission process at this time )
3. Chennai Public School (They asked to contact in Jan 2010, I prefer this school, but it is too late, I fear if I decline PSBB millennium and my son does n’t make it to CPS interview, that will be worst case )
Pls. add other good schools, if any and provide valuable suggestion in complex decentralized Chennai school admission process to choose right school.

Hi,
I have put my son in DAV for Pre.K.G. We cannot afford the cost here. So i prefer to give him education from Kendriya vidyalaya from 1st std.. I dont know the admission procedures for K.V. One of my friend told me that only central government employees are given first preference. We are not government employed and I am not sure about the admission procedures for us. Kindly let me know with the details. You can mail me @ my mail id gajalakshmiprabu@gmail.com.
Thanks in advance.
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar, is a civil sector school, so you stand good chance to get admission there…More over, KV gives a priority to Central Government Employees & to People with transferable jobs…..But you do get seats in KV, subject to availability
